A spokesman for State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi confirmed on Thursday that officials from Myanmar and Bangladesh have signed a memorandum of understanding on the return of thousands of Rohingya refugees back to Rakhine State.

A statement released by Zaw Htay called the agreement “a win-win situation for both countries.”

According to U.N. estimates, some 615,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh since August 25, when violent clashes between the Myanmar military and armed militants started in Rakhine State.
